designboom_plans have been revealed for a 135-meter-tall (443 ft) tower in prague, designed in part by sculptor david černý, that resembles a vertical shipwreck. the proposed mixed-use scheme, which could become the tallest building in the czech republic, contains residences in addition to office space and a large public component on its lower levels. located in prague’s nové butovice neighborhood, ‘top tower’ will also include a public observation deck at its peak, offering views across the city and its surrounding areas.

while primarily a residential building, it is intended that the tower’s lower levels, containing shops and offices, are used throughout the day. the development also includes the revitalization of the public pedestrian zone between the two entrances of the nearby metro station. with an anticipated cost of 2 billion czech crowns ($85 million USD), construction could begin as soon as 2021 with completion forecast for 2024.
